ST DAVID'S COLLEGE has teamed up with a Llandudno business to help provide essential items to those who need them most during the coronavirus lockdown.

Catering manager Will Jones recently opened the college kitchen doors to donate food to Third Space Kitchen and Bar, who are cooking up meals for the elderly, vulnerable and homeless in the Llandudno community.

Gavin Mart, who owns the business based on Clonmel Street, made the decision to set up an ‘emergency kitchen’ to provide free pre-prepared meals. On the first day of operation, which was pre lockdown, 70 free meals were prepared and delivered to a homeless shelter and a food bank.

Since then, more than 1000 meals have been prepared and delivered by Third Space.

Gavin’s initiative is reliant on donations and that's why he returned to the school kitchen where he met Will Jones who donated some much-needed ingredients.

From this donation alone, the Third space team were able to prepare a three-course meal; carrot and coriander soup, a selection of main course ready meals and apple and plum custard crumble to finish.

The meals were then delivered directly to the doors of those identified as in immediate need of food by the local council’s COVID response team.

Gavin said: "We would like to say a huge thanks to the team at St David's College Llandudno for a bounty of fresh food donations.

"Working with Conwy County Borough Council covid response team we identified those most vulnerable and in immediate need of food donations and went out to deliver directly to their doors.

"Thanks again for all of your support as we figure this out. Many thanks to those who have donated to help make this happen so far."
