A BROADWAY rising star is en route to remind musical lovers of the importance of friendship, motherhood - and the magic of a well-made pie!

Next spring, Barry & Fran Weissler and David Ian will bring the smash hit Broadway and West End musical Waitress to Venue Cymru for six nights as part of its first ever UK tour.

Waitress opened on Broadway on April 24, 2016 and is based on the 2007 movie written by Adrienne Shelley.

This musical adaptation is brought to life by a ground-breaking, female-led creative team including Grammy award-winning Sara Bareilles , features a book by acclaimed screenwriter Jessie Nelson and direction by Tony Award-winner Diane Paulus.

The show celebrated its official opening night at the Adelphi Theatre in London’s West End in March 2019 and is currently on a North American tour as well as being set to open in Australia, Holland and Japan.

Waitress tells the story of Jenna, an expert pie maker in a small town, who dreams of a way out of her loveless marriage.

A baking contest in a nearby county and the town’s new doctor may offer her a chance at a new life.

With the support of her workmates Becky and Dawn, Jenna overcomes the challenges she faces and finds that laughter, love and friendship can provide the perfect recipe for happiness.

Welcome Waitress to town from Monday, April 12 2021 until Saturday 17.

Tickets start at £15.50, to book and for showtimes visit venuecymru.co.uk or call the box office on 01492 872000.
