A 30-year-old man captured on CCTV as he punched another man to the ground and stamped on him in the centre of Llandudno late at night has been spared jail.

Wayne King, of Cae Mawr, Llandudno, admitted affray and possessing cocaine on November 11.

Judge Niclas Parry at Mold crown court told him: "This was a savage attack. It was disgusting behaviour.” King had a “shocking” record.

But the judge said he took an “exceptional” course. He imposed a ten months suspended jail term with 250 hours unpaid work and £250 costs.

James Coutts, prosecuting, said the attacked man didn’t support the police investigation.

Defence barrister Simon Rogers said :”There was no complaint. It may perhaps give an indicator there was some background to this.”

An earlier court hearing was told the alleged assault victim was a convicted drug dealer and had snorted something in a bus stop. The men involved in the street rumpus had been to Club 147 and drinking. There was a scuffle on the dance floor.

A confrontation then happened in Mostyn Street as King made his way home and police were alerted by a CCTV operator.
