A HORSE bedding company has made a donation to a second zoo in trouble due to lockdown measures.

Happy Horse Bedding, based in Llanferres, donated bedding to Colwyn Bay Mountain Zoo which is facing an uncertain future due to not being able to open during the coronavirus pandemic.

This was the second donation in a matter of days after the company's managing director dropped off bales of bedding at Chester Zoo.

On that occasion, the UK Government announced that attractions such as zoos would be allowed to open the next day.

However, the zoo in Colwyn Bay, which costs £118,000 per month to run, is still in limbo as there are no suggested dates for when the Welsh Government may allow zoos to reopen.

The bedding bales are made from both wood shavings and sawsand from the family-owned sawmill near the foothills of The Moel Famau Country Park.

Happy Horse Bedding managing director Mathew Davies said: "Having helped Chester Zoo last week we couldn't leave out The Welsh Mountain Zoo! Free bales to help them get back on their feet.

"We made the donation to help support another fantastic zoo which is local to our community and has been negatively impacted by coronavirus."
