RESIDENTS of Colwyn Bay may have noticed that a ship has been anchored off the coast for a little longer than usual recently.

That is because the THV Patricia, pictured above, has had to stick around for two weeks to date, in order to shelter from the recent spell of bad weather which has hit North Wales.

The 2,639 tonne vessel is 86 metres in length and owned by London-based charity Trinity House, who say they are "dedicated to safeguarding shipping and seafarers".

THV Patricia has accommodation for an additional 12 people and also benefits from a helicopter-landing pad.

Trinity House’s Multi Functional Tender (MFT) Patricia operates around the coast of England, Wales and the Channel Islands undertaking aid to navigation maintenance work, towing, wreck location and marking amongst other projects.
