MOLD Town Council’s annual garden competition ‘Blooming Mold’ will, for the first time, be held online.

The competition, which has been running for over 15 years, will be a bit different this year with judges viewing photographic entries rather than visiting gardens in person to carry out the judging.

Participation is open to all Mold residents, businesses, organisations and groups.

To enter this year’s Blooming Mold competition organisers are asking people to submit a photograph for judging.

Photograph subjects can be anything floral or garden related which has been taken in the garden, backyard or place of work; whether it be a shrub or floral planter, herb garden, building an insect house, perfecting a wildflower area or maintaining a veg plot.

The competition will run from July 1 through to end of September with a winner chosen each month and an overall winner at the end of the three months.

Cllr Teresa Carberry, Mayor of Mold said: “This pandemic has meant people are spending more time in their own gardens and backyards than they might normally do and many people have actually discovered a new found love and interest in gardening.

"Over the last few months, posts on Facebook have shown some stunning and amazing gardens, pots, ponds, vegetable plots and hanging baskets in Mold.

"A photographic entry into this competition will enable us all to enjoy Mold in Bloom together. I cannot wait to see the photographs.”

Monthly winners will receive £25 worth of Totally Mold Vouchers and the overall competition winner will receive £100 of Totally Mold Vouchers.

Jane Evans, Mold Town Council events and community engagement officer, said: "This year’s prizes will be Totally Mold Shop Local vouchers, which is a brand new initiative from the Town Council and these vouchers make for great prizes.

"The aim of Mold Shop Local voucher is to help boost our local economy but also to highlight what a fantastic range of shops and services there is in Mold.

"The message to our community is, look at what Mold has to offer before taking your custom outside of the town.”

Entering Blooming Mold is quick and easy. Those interested can just submit one photograph taken in their garden in July, August or September 2020 and send it to Mold Town Council before the month’s deadline.

Participants can submit a maximum of one different photograph for each month.

July's competition is open from July 1 to 28, August's is from August 1 to 28 and September's is open from September 1 to 28.

Email entries to events@moldtowncouncil.org.uk, send via Mold Town Council facebook page or post entries to Mold Town Council, Town Hall, Earl Road, Mold CH7 1AB.

Participants are reminded not to forget to include their name, address, email, phone number and a brief description of their photograph.
