DRESSED in full personal protective equipment, the Bishop of St Asaph ordained nine new deacons during a closed service.

Bishop Gregory Cameron, bishop of St Asaph, carried out the service at St Asaph Cathedral on Saturday, July 4.

Sanitising hands

The nine candidates all sat at least two metres apart and were asked to sanitise their hands on arrival.

A spokesperson from the Diocese of St Asaph said: "During the ordination, all the candidates along with the bishop, the Dean, the Very Revd Nigel Williams and the Director of Ministry, Canon Pam Powell wore face visors.

"Bishop Gregory’s hands were sanitised between each candidate’s ordination and the prayer stool cleaned.

"No congregation was permitted at the service which was broadcast live, via Zoom, to the candidates family and friends."

Luke Bristowe – Assistant Curate at the Hope Street Project, Wrexham.

Helen Dawson – Assistant Curate in Borderlands Mission Area.

Toby Jones – Assistant Curate in Pool Mission Area.

Gregor Lachlann-Waddell – Assistant Curate in Byrn a Môr Mission Area.

Benjamin Lines – Assistant Curate in Aberconwy Mission Area.

Joanne Mackriell – Assistant Curate in Wrexham Mission Area.

James Thompson – Assistant Curate in Pool Mission Area.

Gail Woodward – Assistant Curate in Borderlands Mission Area
