A WREXHAM woman is to complete a gruelling fundraising challenge over the weekend.
Mary Bainbridge, 75, has so far walked and jogged about 200 miles (or 5,000 laps) around her home.
On Saturday, she will have finished her 111th day, marking the end of the challenge - which she undertook to raise money for the Countess of Chester eye department.
Mrs Bainbridge explained that since 2012, she has had numerous eye operations at the hospital as she has a condition named Fuch's Dystrophy - which causes sight loss - and wanted to give something back for the exceptional care she has received there.
She said: "On Saturday I will have more than passed the 200 mile mark and I will have done 5,500 laps.
"I have been jogging some of the laps and I have had some funny looks from people who have been passing by.
"My family have been egging me on. We're all quite athletic.
"I had my knees replaced in 2010 too and I say that without medical intervention I'd be in a wheelchair, not knowing where I was going."
Mrs Bainbridge aimed to raise £1,000 but has so far raised more than £1,300.
She said: "I was really pleased to raise so much, but I am going to keep going because the hospital needs more for specialist equipment."
