LLANGOLLEN Eisteddfod's first-ever online offering has begun.
This year the popular event has gone digital with Llangollen Online, a web-based taster of the week long festival following its cancellation in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Llangollen Online was officially opened with a special message from its patron, HRH The Prince of Wales, who visited the festival most recently in 2015.
Tuesday is traditionally Children’s Day which, yesterday, featured an online premiere of the Children’s Message of Peace.
This year the Eisteddfod has been working ‘remotely’ with local school children from Ysgol Bryn Collen in Llangollen and St Joseph’s Catholic and Anglican High School in Wrexham to create the first ever online Children’s Message of Peace, narrating words by Christine Dukes.
Over the past four weeks, people have been voting online via Llangollen.TV for their favourite performances and moments from the last 25 years, from footage showcasing performers from 57 different countries and well over 10,000 competitors.
Yesterday's winner of the Children’s Choirs Category was the British Columbia Girls Choir - who had won the Children Choir of the World Award in 2018 for their performance of the Moravian folk song Hoj, Hura Hoj by Otmar Mácha.
