A Colwyn Bay man assaulted three police officers while awaiting trial for a similar offence, a court heard.
Diane Williams, prosecuting at Llandudno magistrates’ court, said that on July 24 neighbours called the police to a property in Belgrave Road, Colwyn Bay, after hearing a couple arguing loudly and there was concern for the woman.
When Anthony Graham came to the door he was clearly drunk, and became aggressive towards the officers.
As they struggled to put him in the police van two officers were slightly injured. He had to be subdued with pepper spray but on the way to custody he remained volatile and spat on another officer’s face and arms.
Graham, aged 22, admitted three offences of assaulting emergency workers and one of using threatening behaviour. At the time he was on bail awaiting crown court trial for assaulting an officer.
District Judge Gwyn Jones said his sentencing powers were insufficient and remanded Graham in custody to appear at Mold Crown Court on August 20.
