Bishop’s Castle artist Helen Robinson has designed a large elephant stained glass window to be installed at the Town Hall.
The window was commissioned by the Arts Festival and individual pieces made by local people under Helen’s supervision.
There are still some pieces to make before it can be installed. Anyone who is interested in helping can contact The March of the Elephants project on Facebook or by telephoning 07971 661615.
The project aims to create a world-class elephant-themed trail of varied artworks placed around the town.
The elephant is rooted in the history of Bishop’s Castle. Clive of India lived in the town and an Indian elephant become his emblem. And during the Second World War several circuses moved their animals out of the cities to Bishop’s Castle to avoid the air raids.
