On approach to Orme

Hugh said: “Saturday was one of the best days we have had on The Great Tour in 2020 with beautiful weather that really showcased the north Wales coast and scenery. It was also noticeable just how good the provision for cyclists was riding along the promenade from Colwyn Bay and through Llandudno and on along the coast.

“Of course the route around the Great Orme is one of the scenic highlights of The Great Tour, so it was nice to be able to enjoy it in such perfect conditions.

“We have reached over 20 per cent of our fundraising target to so hope to be able to raise some more money for our charities before the end of the ride and hope thousands more people will be able to enjoy The Great Tour in years to come as part of their own challenges.”

The cyclists left the the Isle of Wight on Saturday July 4.

The ride is expected to finish back at Ryde on the Isle of Wight on Saturday, September 5.

By the time the riders reached Colwyn Bay, The Great Tour had completed about 4,500 kilometres.

Hugh added: “Having completed over half of our circumnavigation I’m reminded of the sense of absolute freedom and satisfaction that you get from riding along our unsurpassable richly varied coastlines.

“Reaching Wales marks just three weeks remaining in The Great Tour and we look forward to completing the rest of this cycling odyssey which I hope thousands more people will be able to enjoy in years to come.”
