SHEEP have caused the closure of a stretch of the A55 resulting in long delays.

Traffic Wales tweeted on Tuesday morning to warn motorists that Penmaenbach headland travelling eastbound and Penmaenbach tunnel travelling westbound had been closed to assist with the safe removal of the sheep.

The Conwy Tunnel had also been closed westbound while the sheep are removed from the road.

They added: "Traffic is heavy in the area.

"Plan ahead when travelling."

All roads reopened shortly after 8am.

Traffic Wales tweeted: "All sheep have now been safely removed from the carriageway. Slow traffic in the area. Thank you for your patience."
