THE Glasdir Business and Conference Centre in Llanrwst is to close permanently.

Current Covid 19 restrictions do not allow the Centre to continue trading, bringing the future of six jobs into question. In a statement on social media the Centre said: “Glasdir will permanently close its doors on the 31st October.

“The hospitality and events industry has been hit hard and the ongoing economic effect of Covid 19 has been far more extreme than anyone could have envisaged. There are ongoing restrictions which do not allow us to trade and there is no indication at present when this will change.

“We are in exceptionally challenging times and regrettably the Directors have had to take the difficult decision to permanently close Glasdir.”

“The Centre has been run as a successful social enterprise for many years and has a team of two full time workers and four part time workers and we are working to support them through this difficult period.”

Glasdir is a purpose built conference and meeting venue which first opened its doors in 2007. It is a physical hub for training and business and is a first class conference and meeting venue. It has a range of modern well equipped meeting and conference rooms.

It has welcomed around 20,000 people annually, bringing benefits to the local economy.

The project was developed in conjunction with the Conwy Rural Partnership. It was part financed by the Welsh Government.
