THE first Briton known to have contracted Covid-19 has died at the age of 26.

Tributes are flooding in to Connor Reed, of Llandudno, who died in what has been reported as a 'tragic accident'.

Connor had lived in China for three years and was working in a school in Wuhan.

He spoke to the Pioneer in February about his Covid-19 diagnosis. He initially thought he had the flu.

In a Facebook post, on October 27, his mother Hayley said: "It bring me great sad announce our beautiful son Connor Reed has passed away in a tragic accident at Bangor University at the weekend.

"He will be so greatly missed by his brothers, family and friends.

"He had such a wonderful smile, enthusiasm and love for life.

"We are blessed to of had you in our lives if only for a very short time.

"Rest in peace our darling."

Connor, believed to be the 'first Brit known to have caught coronavirus', is said to have shook off the deadly illness with a 'hot toddy' after refusing antibiotics.

Speaking to the Pioneer in February, the former Ysgol Bro Gwydir pupil said: "What has been said in the national media about me is correct.

"I went to hospital about December 5/6. I was sick before with flu. I had pneumonia type thing, that is why I went to the hospital.

"It is not as serious as how it has been reported.

"I would like to give some acknowledgement to the Chinese authorities for their openness in terms of information. We are well informed, as opposed to Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (Sars) [in 2003].

"The best case of recovery is having enough rest and keeping quarantined and being by yourself."

Connor's parents Hayley and Rod moved from Llandudno to Australia about 10 years ago.
