A SOUL artist originally from Llandudno has joined a long-list of Welsh musicians who have had their tracks featured on the hugely-popular FIFA 21 video game.

The likes of Tom Jones, Duffy and the Stereophonics have all featured on the EA Sports football franchise over the years and now Nia Wyn is the latest Welsh songstress to be included on the game's soundtrack.

Now living in North London, Nia says having her track 'Who Asked You' featured on the latest version of the game, which has seen over 2.3 million players worldwide play it since it was released on September 9, was 'one to tick off the bucket list'.

Since FIFA 21 was released, the number of song plays on her Spotify profile have gone from 15,000 to 156,000.

Nia said: "Max Music Publishing submitted my track to EA who liked it and got back to me to say they were interested in using it. But I didn't actually find out that it was going to be featured on FIFA 21 until around July time, so the waiting around was the hard bit!

"It's a dream come true to be featured on the game, I grew up playing it on Playstation and playing football too so it's amazing."

When asked what it was like seeing her name on the screen next to the likes of top 40 UK artists such as Stormzy and Dua Lipa on FIFA 21, she added: "It's absolutely mad. It's definitely one to tick off the bucket list."

Nia, who says her music tastes are a 'real mixture which change often', cites the likes of Otis Redding and Billy Holiday as just two of her inspirations.

She says her love for music stems from 'living in a house where music was always played', with her father in particular being into Northern Soul.

She first picked up a guitar aged nine and continued to play throughout high school and beyond.

A keen supporter of the Wales Women's team and the Manchester United women's team, which although only formed in 2018 is on a rapid rise, Nia says being featured on FIFA 21 has given her the 'confidence and faith' to 'reach out to other musicians' and inspired her to keep working on new music.

She said: "The connection between football and music is a powerful one and FIFA proves that.

"This is a very hard time for all musicians at the moment but being featured on the game has definitely given me renewed confidence in myself."

Nia released her latest single 'Muzzle' (featuring R.A.E.) just last week and, if all goes to plan, she will also feature on the Paul Weller Tour in Cambridge and the Bermondsey Social Club next March.
