A SUPERMARKET wants to accept deliveries 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Llandudno Town Council's Planning and Transportation Committee are due to consider the proposal on Wednesday, December 2.
An application to Conwy County Borough Council, lodged by Savills, on behalf of Asda Stores Limited, relates to the site in Llandudno on Conway Road.
In a covering letter, Savills say: "We write on behalf of our client Asda Stores Ltd to apply for the removal of Condition 17 of Planning Permission in order to allow the business to make deliveries to and from the site 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
"In response to the pandemic, the Government lifted restrictions on overnight services, in an effort to enable retailers to keep stores stocked and fully operational in order to cope with the increased demand. This proposal is required in order to allow the retailer to continue to make deliveries to and from the site on an unrestricted basis, so that Asda may continue to effectively serve the residents of Llandudno."
The document added: "The service yard is of modern design, being covered to prevent the breakout of noise associated with loaded and unloading of vehicles, and is separated from nearby residential properties to the South and West by acoustic fencing and thick vegetation which also has the effect of dampening noise.
"A service yard management strategy will be put in place as part of the current proposals in order to further limit the potential for any noise impacts."
One neighbour has lodged an objection.
They wrote: "Any deliveries between midnight and 6am would be unwelcome as I am a light sleeper and the sounds of vehicles reversing bleeping would wake me."
