A major American restaurant chain will be moving into a former pub this month.

The One Bell in Watford High Street closed in May 2016 and it was regarded as a favourite for shoppers and football fans.

But while the Grade II listed building has been partially boarded up, the Watford Observer had known that the site will be converted into a restaurant with flats on the side.

We reported last month that the Mexican food chain is lined up for the One Bell.

Taco Bell said at the time they were not ready to share further details about its new restaurant, but has now confirmed that it will be opening its branch on December 19 (Saturday) and the doors will open from 11am.

Marketing lead at Taco Bell UK, Lucy Dee, said: "We're really excited to be opening our first Taco Bell in Watford.

"We've had our eye on a potential restaurant in Watford for a while, and we know we've got plenty of fans in the area who we're looking forward to welcoming through our doors."

Taco Bell currently has 40 existing restaurants in the UK, the closest being in Colindale, north London.

The 57-seat restaurant will offer dine-in, takeaway, delivery and Click and Collect and serve food such as burritos, tacos, nachos and quesadillas.
