PUPILS and staff at Colwyn Bay’s Ysgol Pen Y Bryn have been working hard to ensure Christmas celebrations still go ahead this year with a performance schedule with a big difference.

With the usual performances in the school hall and St Pauls church being an impossibility due to Covid restrictions the school has thought out of the box and planned a variety of different Christmas online shows.

Parents of the pupils were still able to watch their child perform in small sketches and films on last Tuesday and Wednesday through secure online platforms.

Headteacher, Tabitha Sawyer said: “We look forward to this time of year, a wonderful opportunity for the children to show their talent and share their work with their parents. We were determined to find an alternative way to present this and the staff and pupils have worked hard to ensure this was a Christmas to remember.”

The Foundation phase pupils performed nativity themed sketches with some dancing and outdoor singing to accompany their performances. Rather than the Year 2 Christmas play in the school hall, the pupils were ‘film stars’ with their Christmas film ‘Goodies versus Baddies, Christmas Edition’ and an array of characters from Harry Potter to Darth Vader were seen entering school on filming days.

The different Year groups presented ‘Christmas around the World’ in a variety of different ways and as a finale a whole school version of ’12 days of Christmas’ including both pupils and staff was presented.
