THE staff at a Llandudno school have made a film which lets the elves of Craig-y-Don spread a little Christmas joy to the world.

The elves are the 36 staff members of Ysgol Craig-y-Don who, under the direction of teacher Sue-Ellen Jensen, produced a seven minute long video which has debuted on YouTube. Already it has amassed several thousand views.

Sue, who studied Media and Drama at University, said: “It took best part of 50 hours of filming and even more time editing all the raw material into the video.

“As the elves only come out to play once the children have gone home, filming was spread over three weeks with the staff staying behind in school for several hours each day.

“It was great fun because the elves got up to a lot of mischief every evening and what they did would probably set a bad example for the pupils.”

“We wanted to bring the elves of Ysgol Craig y Don to the world’s attention. They only come out when everyone else has left the building in the evening.

"They can be really mischievous and leave things lying around all over the place. We'd often come in next morning and find all the gym equipment out, the PE shed in a right old mess and musical instruments all over the place.

“The elves also raided the staffroom for sweets and biscuits as well. There are some here who like to blame me for that. Until we managed to film them, I was the only one who’d ever seen the elves. Other staff members just thought they were a figment of my imagination”

She added: “The idea for the video just popped into my head a few months ago and since then it has been a lot hard work, but we all enjoyed ourselves thoroughly.

“I put the film together because I and my colleagues wanted to bring a little Christmas joy to everyone in what has been a very challenging and difficult year for the whole community.

“We elves hope everyone who sees the film will enjoy it and that it cheers people up.

"Hopefully we’ll be through this crisis soon and we can make another film in celebration of the end of the pandemic.”

Head elf (teacher) Iwan Jones added: “I am over the moon at the production, We clearly have a team of talented elves who can perform, dance, act, make films and have fun.

"Sue is very gifted and imaginative and a credit to the school. Who knows what ideas she will come up with in the future, we'll just have to wait and see.

"Whatever it might be I hope we'll all have fun doing it.”

Sue said all the filming was done on her mobile phone
