POST office services have returned to a Conwy village more than four years after being stopped.

A temporary mobile service has been set up in Penmaenrhos, near Old Colwyn while a permanent location continues to be sought.

The Post Office service, at the Llysfaen Road and Swn y Don junction, is open from 9am to 10am on Fridays as a short-term replacement for the old site which closed in 2016.

Residents currently have to travel to nearby towns and villages to deliver items.

Darren Millar, MS for Clwyd West, said: “It was a great shame when Penmaenrhos lost its post office back in 2016. I am therefore delighted that a temporary service is now being provided and I am sure residents will be pleased that they no longer have to travel to neighbouring towns and villages to access Post office services.

“Whilst the Mobile service in no way replaces the permanent facility that was lost in 2016, it does provide residents with a wide range of Post Office products and services, albeit for only one hour a week between 9am and 10am every Friday.

“I thank Post Office Ltd for securing this service, but hope that a permanent solution is found soon.”
