AFTER a year of fundraising, Sainsbury’s in Llandudno have raised an incredible £2,904 for St David’s Hospice.

The team organised and took part in a variety of fundraising events including: raffles, name the teddy competition and in-store collections.

To boost the fundraising, store manager Dave Teesdale also took part in a 140km sponsored walk and the 2019 Santa Dash.

Mr Teesdale said: “Myself, Mike and the team in Sainsburys Llandudno are inspired by the work that everyone does at St David’s Hospice. That goes for the whole team from doctors, nurses, admin staff to fundraisers. They are a shining light especially in the current environment.

“I hope that the money we have raised over a number of months continues to be used to help and support families who need the hospice and the special environment that the hospice provides at such challenging times.

“I have had the chance, whilst being involved with raising this money, to hear so many stories from the customers who have been involved with the hospice and also the times where the hospice has helped their families.

“It’s such a great local charity and one I am proud to support.

"I want to thank everyone who has helped and donated."

TK Maxx store in Prestatyn kindly gave a donation of sweets and food goodies to clinical staff at St David's Hospice.

Chel Sealey, team leader at Prestatyn store, who organised the donation, said: "St David’s Hospice is an amazing place and is at the heart of the community.

"In 2017, they looked after my brother. It was only for a short time, but the end of life care he received was overwhelming. They cared for us all, including our large family.

“It is nice to be able to give a little something to help the staff through tough times”

In addition to the treats for the staff, the adult hospice has also received a £1,000 donation as part of the TK Maxx and Homesense Foundation Community Fund.

The Community Fund, which has been set up to help local grassroots charities who are working hard in the fight against Covid-19, asked associates from the TK Maxx and Homesense stores to nominate charities within their community who are doing great work in supporting the most vulnerable.

Hayley Coughlin, store manager at TK Maxx Llandudno, nominated her local adult hospice for the fund and St David’s Hospice donated £1,000 towards their survival through the pandemic.

Adrian Owen, Conwy community fundraiser for the Hospice said: “A big thank you to the staff at TK Maxx for their generous donations.

"It is a really thoughtful gesture, the treats will definitely be enjoyed by our clinical team and the monetary donation will make a big difference to our patients and their families in our community.”
