TWO robberies occurred in Llandudno town centre this afternoon (February 17).

The first incident occurred at a premises on Augusta Street. A second incident followed shortly on Mostyn Street.

Chief Inspector Owain Llewelyn said: "We believe these incidents are linked, and I would like to reassure the local community that extensive enquiries are ongoing to identify the individual involved.

"Crime scene investigators are continuing to work at the targeted premises and increased patrols will continue in the area this evening. The neighbourhood policing team are visiting local newsagents and off-licences to provide security advice and reassurance.

"I would appeal to anyone who was in the town centre between 3.30pm and 5.30pm today and saw a male, wearing grey tracksuit bottoms and either a grey or green top, or anything which appeared suspicious to contact us."

Earlier today the Pioneer reported there was a 'heavy police presence' in Llandudno. North Wales Police said at the time that the risk to the general public in the area was 'minimal'.
