THREE men have been arrested after Durham Police officers found drugs and cash in a car.

Three man have been arrested on suspicion of possessing controlled drugs with intent to supply after a red Seat Leon was stopped and searched by Chester-le-Street neighbourhood officers yesterday, February 25. 

A quantity of suspected controlled drugs were seized along with cash and other items when the car was stopped as part of an operation under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

The men have been assisting CID officers with enquiries and an investigation is ongoing.

The local policing team, intelligence officers and 24/7 response team were conducting a road-related operation in the Chester-le-Street area.

Various vehicles of interest were stopped and police say a number of drivers have been dealt with for motoring-related offences.

Durham Police thanked the local community for their support of the operation.

A spokesperson said: "This operation has been intelligence-led, with a number of pieces of key information provided by the great community of Chester-le-Street.

"As always, you as the public help make all this possible."
