A judge has granted police permission to install monitoring software on a 32-year-old man’s mobile phone after he admitted breaching a sexual harm prevention order.

Tom Jervis, of Tom White Court, Penrhyn Bay, had received the order following a child porn conviction.

But Caernarfon crown court heard he had deleted his internet history and accessed Facebook, Tinder and Snapchat without informing police.

Judge Timothy Petts imposed an eight months suspended jail term with rehabilitation and a £200 fine.

He amended the sexual harm prevention order so police could install monitoring software.

Judge Petts said Jervis’s phone showed he had accessed websites “which must have been related to child sex abuse.”

However, it was during a community order but before a rehabilitative course began.

“I have read a very positive pre-sentence report about your performance on that course and unquestionable commitment to the order. You are assessed as a low risk of re-offending,” Judge Petts added.

Defence barrister Jade Tufail said Jervis had a community mental health doctor and received medication. He had personal difficulties including obsessive compulsive disorder and was on benefits.

Counsel said a great deal of work had been completed by him with the probation service and there was a “glowing” report.
