THOUSANDS of people are set to join a live music event from home to raise donations for a Llandudno hospice.

Lyn Jones, who owns the Community Hair & Beauty Lounge situated across the street from St David’s Hospice, has organised the event after the online scene for house music boomed during lockdown.

The 57-year-old has curated a 12-strong list of her favourite DJs from all over the world, some with tens of thousands of followers and millions of hits with their online mixes, to perform in the 17-hour event.

The artists will wear the hospice’s Great Orme goats merchandise and a donation link will be included on the online page of the free event so that viewers can donate.

Ms Jones said: “Music is the one thing that has kept me sane during lockdown and live online events have become massive during lockdown with people from across the world joining and commenting.

“I was asked by the Sheffield Lockdown Crew if I wanted to put a show together and thought that as St David’s Hospice is close to everyone’s hearts in Llandudno – many of us know someone who has spent time or passed away there – it could be done to raise donations."

DJs featuring in the event include Errol Jones, of the Sheffield Lockdown Crew, Hector Respeto, of SMR Radio New York, Mr T (Cliff Townsend), Jake Vertigo, Paul Foxall, James Worrall and Anthony Garrett.

“The DJs are not able to work at the moment, but they have given up their time to livestream on the day, from 11am in morning through to 4am the following day.

“It is different for them as their audience is online, rather than in a club, and interaction is with people at home in Zoom parties and commenting, but it has become a big scene and people are friendly and lovely to speak to.”

The event, Lyn's 1st Choice Charity Stream, will be streamed live via Mixcloud on April 4.
