THE contract to build the Sub Regional Children’s Assessment Unit in Colwyn Bay has been awarded to WRW Construction.

The new unit, which will be named Bwthyn y Ddôl, will be a place where children can be safely cared for, supported and supervised by a residential team, and where children and their parents and carers can meet an on-site therapeutic team.

The project is a partnership between Conwy County Borough Council, Denbighshire County Council and Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB).

A spokesperson from Conwy County Borough Council said: "Conwy’s Cabinet considered the tenders submitted by the shortlisted contractors on March 9, and agreed to award the contract to WRW Construction.

"The legal processes have now been concluded and the contract awarded.

"WRW Construction will move on site in April and the work to construct Bwthyn y Ddôl is expected to take about 12 months.

"The total cost of Bwthyn y Ddôl is £2,687,524 funded through the Welsh Government Integrated Care Fund (ICF)."
