Children Lily, 10, and Sebastian, 8, took the lead when it came to the walking and £440 was raised.

Mum Vicky said: “To be perfectly honest the children stumbled upon the ‘Walk for Water’ challenge themselves. Once they saw the challenge, they immediately got very excited and wanted to know more.

“We spent the next two weeks speaking with them regularly about what it would involve to make sure they were committed, and also about how their fundraising could help others. We did a lot of walking to prepare them for it and finally agreed to let them take on the challenge.”

Dad David grew up in Ecuador before moving to Wales.

“Where I lived, we had access to clean water, but it was a limited resource and depending on the time of year,” he said.

“There were occasions when the water access would be turned off for at least a day. So, from early on, I was taught to be aware of water consumption.”

Good Friday was the final day of the challenge.

The family did three separate walks; they walked from Llandudno to Craig y Don, round the Little Orme and then along the prom from Rhos on Sea to Colwyn Bay.

Vicky believes the challenge has had a positive impact on the whole family but especially Lily and Sebastian.

“It’s certainly helped the children to realise that despite all the struggles of living in lockdown they are very privileged compared to others,” she said.

“It has made them more aware of the issues facing so many people around the world. And, it’s been a really positive experience to help them realise they can make a difference by giving up their time.”
