A YOUNG owl who was found very underweight is recovering well.

The owlet, nicknamed Twix, is receiving care at Idlewild Animal Sanctuary, a Conwy charity set up to rehome and care for unwanted and abandoned animals.

A post on Facebook said: "Twix is gaining weight nicely now [the owlet weights 269 grams].

"This little one was found in Colwyn Bay nearly a week ago now. He was extremely thin, wouldn't eat and had been on the ground for a few days.

"Normally we would find a place of safety and put them high up in a tree but sadly he was and on a busy road with no trees around. Local teenagers were picking him up and taking pictures and he was exhausted and near collapse.

"He is doing well, eating and gaining weight."

"Hopefully he if keeps improving and eating well, he will be moved to an outdoor flight and will be one step closer to going back to the wild."
