A new charity shop has opened in Penmaenmawr benefitting a local hospice.

The Mayor of Penmaenmawr, Cllr Kathryn Beard cut the ribbon at the new St David’s Hospice retail shop on Bangor Road.

The shop, which opened on Wednesday April 14 stocks a wide range of items including men’s, women’s and children’s clothing; homeware; books and CDs.

Every item sold in the new shop will help the local charity provide free specialist end-of-life care to local people living with life-limiting illnesses.

Covid-safe celebrations were well underway as local customers showed their support, on the week that non-essential retail outlets could re-open following easing of Wales’ lockdown restrictions.

The latest shop in the Hospice’s portfolio, complements 21 existing across the counties of Conwy, Gwynedd and Anglesey.

St David’s Hospice Conwy Area Retail Manager, Debbie Day said: “It has been very challenging times, but we are very excited to be expanding our charity shops within our local catchment area with the new Penmaenmawr shop.

"The support we receive within these communities, through them donating items or shopping with us, is invaluable as all proceeds from our charity shops goes directly back to supporting local end of life care.”

The shop will be open Monday – Saturday 10am to 4pm.

There are currently opportunities to volunteer at the Penmaenmawr Shop, if you are interested, please pop in to the shop and speak to Team Leader Karen Evans or apply online at www.stdavidshospice.org.uk
