THE Welsh Mountain Zoo has confirmed its reopening date.

The Colwyn Bay based zoo will throw opens its gates to visitors on Monday, April 26; the zoo will welcome guests for the first time since closing in line with Covid restrictions before Christmas 2020.

All departments at the attraction have spent the last few weeks preparing the site for reopening ahead of a potential date announcement.

Nick Jackson, CEO of the Welsh Mountain Zoo, said: “We are delighted with the latest announcement that outdoor tourist attractions in Wales are able to re-open. This is the news that we have all been waiting for after a long and challenging winter. We will, of course be operating safely, with updated procedures available, in advance of a visit, on our website.

“We can’t wait to see our friends and supporters again just in time for a sunny Spring reopening.”

Six people will be able to meet outdoors in Wales from Saturday, April 24 while outdoor hospitality will be allowed to reopen from Monday, April 26 as cases of new Covid-19 infections continue to fall.

Confirming the news on April 19, Wales' First Minister Mark Drakeford also stressed that people should continue to observe social distancing rules when outside their household or support bubble when meeting others.

The rules for meeting indoors remain unchanged.
