THE contract for a new disability respite centre, cafe, shop and support facilities in Conwy Bay has been awarded.
Wynne Construction Ltd has secured the contract for Bront y Nant, near Colwyn Bay Crematorium.
There will be a disability respite facility and complex care day centre on the top site.
The facility will provide five furnished apartments, communal space and support staff accommodation for those with disability support needs. The day centre will provide daily respite services for those with complex needs.
On the lower site, Bryn Euryn Nurseries will be developed to provide a café, shop and plant selling area, and the access to the cemetery and nurseries will be integrated.
Wynne Construction will move onto the site on April 26.
Work is expected to take over a year.
A spokesperson from Conwy County Borough Council said: "The cost of the build is £5.5million funded through Welsh Government Integrated Care Fund (ICF) and prudential borrowing."
