PLANNING permission has been granted for 39 new homes at Glyn Farm in Colwyn Bay.

Anwyl Homes will develop the almost seven acre site off Valley Road, which was allocated for housing in the Conwy County Council Local Plan.

The development will include four affordable homes and a number of green spaces, including a public play area and retained grazing land.

Work is expected to start next week.

Phil Dolan, managing director for Anwyl Homes Cheshire and North Wales, said: “We’re pleased to have secured planning permission for a new development in Colwyn Bay, where we have previously built a reputation for providing high quality new homes.

“Our latest development will provide a range of detached and semi-detached properties, providing a good mix of designs for growing families and first time buyers. We look forward to welcoming new homeowners, with properties available to reserve from autumn 2021.”

The range of properties to be built comprises two–bedroom, two-bathroom semi-detached homes as well as three and four-bedroom detached homes, including some split-level properties. A number of mature trees will also be retained on site and some homes will benefit from panoramic views of the Irish Sea.

As part of its planning commitment, Anwyl will make a community contribution of more than £110,000 including £21,322 towards open space, £9,000 towards libraries and more than £76,000 to off-site traffic calming measures.

The new homes are to be built on the edge of open fields and woodland areas; close to amenities including the town centre, beach and promenade, leisure facilities at Eirias Park and not far from schools.

The new development will be marketed under the name Glyn Farm with first homes due to be completed by spring 2022.
