A PRIMARY school sent a number of year groups home after a pupil received a positive PCR test.

A total of 150 children at Ysgol Craig Y Don in Llandudno are self-isolating.

A letter, seen by the Pioneer, that was sent to parents on June 10 said: "We have been informed that one of our pupils has received a positive Covid-19 PCR test result. As a precautionary measure we are asking that parents of pupils in the following classes collect their children as soon as possible."

Year three, year four and year five groups were affected.

A spokesperson from Conwy County Borough Council confirmed that 150 pupils had been instructed to isolate by Test, Trace, Protect (TTP).

They added: "TTP will have instructed those required to isolate and their last date of isolation.

"Those individuals who have been requested to isolate by TTP will continue to do so until their last day of isolation."

Public Health Wales is urging people to stick to social distancing rules and to take up the offer of a vaccine following a significant increase in the number of Delta variant (VOC-21APR-02) cases of Coronavirus.

On June 8, the number of cases of the variant in Wales stood at 178 - an increase of 81 cases since June 2.
