FRENCH police have appealed for witnesses after a Conwy man was seriously injured during a ‘hit and run’ in northern France.

Adam Fryer, 35, was hit by a car in the early hours of last Thursday in Fécamp, Normandy, according to local reports.

The engineer was contracted to work on an offshore windfarm in the region when he was “seriously injured and abandoned on the road,” said local newspaper Paris Normandie.

The incident involving a grey Renault Clio took place on rue Gustave-Couturier at about 1.25am. The victim is said to have been with two colleagues at the time.

The identity of the driver remains unknown to police, the newspaper said. Two witnesses have told police that the windshield of the Clio was "starred" and its driver fled in the vehicle.

A spokesperson for the Foeign, Commonwealth and Development Office said: "We are assisting the family of a British man who sustained injuries following an accident in France."

A GoFundMe page set up by a family friend to urge people to support Mr Fryer has raised £1,500 in three days.
