Creative Arts students from Coleg Llandrillo are celebrating after their end-of-year digital illustrations project was officially selected for the 2021 London International Creative competition, beating off stiff competition from around the world.

The nine students, studying on the Art and Design Foundation, AS, and A-level Graphics courses at the college’s Rhyl and Rhos-on-Sea campuses had their collaborative project a collection of portraits and self-portraits entitled ‘Portraits’ recognised in the ‘Illustrate (Graphic)’ category. created using a variety of software, on tablets, laptops and computers. Digital illustration forms part of the students' coursework, leading to university application.

College tutor Dewi Hughes, a Fellow of the Chartered Society of Designers with 40 years, said: “Showcasing creativity on the world stage is a quality experience for our students, ahead of their university experience and the world of employment.

“I would like to congratulate the whole team of students for their inspirational project. It has reaffirmed the international recognition for Creative Arts that we have here at Coleg Llandrillo.”

The students are: Matilda Crossley from Conwy; JD Dearden (Kinmel Bay); Caitlin Millership (Rhos-on-Sea); Hollie Williams (Colwyn Bay); Jade Thomas (Old Colwyn); Bobbi-Lea Wood (Old Colwyn); Fflur Mai Mercer Roberts (Llanberis); Evie Roberts (Rhyl) and Bethanie Morrlle (Gronant).
