AN MS for North Wales has promised to champion measures to tackle air pollution.

Sam Rowlands, Shadow Minister for Local Government, who was elected MS in this year's Senedd election, made his pledge during a meeting with Healthy Air Cymru, to promote this year’s Clean Air Day.

He said: “Clean Air day is the UK’s largest air pollution campaign and I was delighted to have the opportunity to talk to Healthy Air Cymru, who share our vision to work together for a cleaner and greener Wales.

“The organisation works together with many different partners including Sustrans Cymru, Royal College of Psychiatrists, Asthma UK and the British Lung Foundation Wales, to help improve the air we breathe.

“Poor air quality is one of the largest environmental health risks we face and can cause serious illnesses. I was happy to support Clean Air Day and pledged to champion measures to tackle this very serious problem.”

Clean Air Day brings together communities, businesses, schools and the health sector to improve public understanding of air pollution.
