A PENSIONER unable to move was left on the floor outside his own home for four hours.

The man, believed to be in his 80s, fell outside his home in Kinmel Bay at about 10am / 10.30am on Thursday, July 1.

An ambulance was called at the time of the fall but took nearly four hours.

An eye-witness, who asked not to be named, said: "People were with him but it was disgusting how long he had been made to wait.

"He had a pillow and a blanket on top of him and people were around him looking after him.

"I understand that they couldn't move him.

"The hospital is only 10 minutes away."

Liz Wedley, Area Operations Manager for the Welsh Ambulance Service said: “We are experiencing extremely high demand in North Wales today (July 1), which means that some patients are waiting longer in the community than we would like.

“Regrettably, this gentleman was among them and we would like to apologise for any distress that he and those around him experienced prior to our arrival.

“In times of very high demand – and if your call is not an emergency – the public can help by checking their symptoms on the NHS 111 Wales website, or visiting their GP or pharmacist.”
