IN A THRILLING match, The Bee held league leaders Lex to a tie in the T20 Evening League.

Batting first, Chris Dawson (29) and Stu Jones (30) set a solid base and Stu Watkins blasted a quick 35 to take the Bee to 148/3. Steve Cheung (1/7) off three overs topped the Lex bowling.

In reply, Lex lost leading scorer Tom Thornton early on, but Jamie Grimshaw (51) and Sam Rimmington (54) had them cruising to the total.

Three quick wickets and tight bowling, however, changed the picture and four runs were required off the last three balls.

A two and a single tied the scores and bowler Chris Dawson produced the perfect yorker, bowling Trevor Taylor with the final ball giving the teams a share of the points.

Gele Daredevils took the chance to move within a point of Lex at the top, beating champions North Wales Police in another close encounter.

Sebin Sebastian (26) and Abdul Rehman (25) started the Gele innings well, but two wickets from Gary James slowed the scoring. 35 from captain Wasim Ali saw them reach an under par 117/5.

The police innings started off very well with star batsman Ross Stevens hitting a four and a six off the first over but then Raj Metri bowled him with a bullet that stayed low.

It was obvious that this was the biggest wicket of the day and low and behold it changed the course of the match.

Some steady bowling from Gele saw the Police fall behind the run rate and eventually they closed on 102/5.
