A POLICE dog helped to save the life of a missing person in Colwyn Bay.

North Wales Police dog Luna was tasked with the important responsibility to find the person after they had left their home on Wednesday night.

The force had been informed that a person, who was considered to be high risk, had the intention of taking their own life.

It responded by sending out police dog handlers to track the person, and it was Luna who helped to reach the individual before any further harm was caused.

That was not the end of the night's work for Luna, however, as she was able to trace the driver involved in a car crash who was found to be over the drink drive limit.

Cheshire and North Wales Police Dogs tweeted: "Great work by PD Luna and handler last night!

"First off they found a high risk missing person in Colwyn Bay who’d left his address intent on taking his own life.

"Luna then tracked from an RTC straight to the driver who’d made off due to being over the drink drive limit!"
