A TOTAL of 277 new cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed across North Wales, according to the latest data.

Public Health Wales announced on Friday (July 16) that Thursday that 1,083 new cases have been reported across Wales.

Sadly, there have been two additional Covid-related deaths reported in Wales taking the total to 5,583, of which 952 have been recorded in North Wales.

There have now been a total of 40,637 Covid cases recorded in the region.

The latest cases can be broken down to:

  • 81 in Wrexham
  • 64 in Flintshire
  • 62 in Conwy
  • 44 in Denbighshire
  • 20 in Gwynedd
  • 6 on Anglesey

The latest infection rate for Wales (up to July 11) as a whole is 156.3 cases per 100,000 members of the population.

In North Wales, only Gwynedd and Anglesey have a lower rolling rate of infection.

The latest infection rate per local authority area in North Wales is:

  • 138.5 on Anglesey
  • 226.1 in Conwy
  • 275.9 in Denbighshire
  • 223.6 in Flintshire
  • 130.9 in Gwynedd
  • 303.8 in Wrexham

A total of 2,279,139 adults have now received a first dose of the Covid vaccine in Wales, while 1,892,082 individuals have been double jabbed.

On Wednesday, First Minister Mark Drakeford said Wales was on course to move to alert level zero on August 7.

This would mean all premises would be able to open and most – but not all – restrictions will be removed.

Restrictions will be replaced with the ongoing requirement for all organisations and businesses to carry out Covid risk assessments.

There would also be no legal limits on the number of people who can meet others indoors, including in private homes.

Face coverings will continue to be required by law in most indoor public places and on public transport, with the exception of hospitality settings.
