HOMEOWNERS in Llysfaen are being urged to take part in a scheme that will reduce their energy bills.

Arbed am Byth, which aims to install energy efficiency measures and help people who are struggling to heat their home, will hold a series of meetings at Llysfaen Vilage Hall for residents to register their interest in the scheme.

The scheme, funded by the Welsh Government as part of its Warm Homes programme and delivered by installer Arbed am Byth, involves a combination of insulation, electric heating, and solar PV measures.

About 100 homes have already been assessed by Arbed, with other properties in Pensarn and a small area of Belgrano taking part.

A Welsh Government Annual Report in 2019 found that fuel poverty in Wales was estimated to be at 155,000 homes, about 12 per cent of all homes, which had fallen by more than half over the past ten years.

Darren Millar, MS for Clwyd West, encouraged residents to take part in the scheme.

“This scheme is fully funded and can help to cut people’s heating bills through measures such as insulation, energy efficiency measures and renewable technologies," he said.

"It can make a huge difference to people’s pockets and many residents in Llysfaen are already seeing the benefits.

“I am therefore delighted that it is being expanded to help even more residents in the village."

Arbed am Byth staff will present to answer any questions and register interest from new applicants.

People are being warned that they may have to queue for short periods if numbers exceed permitted Covid restrictions

"This shouldn’t act as deterrent and with the savings that people can make through this scheme, it will certainly be worth the wait," said mr Millar.

The sessions take place on Wednesday, July 21 and Thursday, July 22 from 3pm to 7pm.
