A POPULAR visitor location in Conwy will be closed to vehicles for two months.

Conwy County Borough Council said vehicle access to Conwy Quay will be prohibited until September as it expects "significant numbers of visitors" to the town.

Parking spaces on Castle Street will also be closed as part of the plan free up space for pedestrians and for shoppers to queue outside nearby premises.

The closure will be in place from Monday, July 26 to Wednesday, September 21.

Motorists are being advised to use pay and display parking at Vicarage Gardens and Market Place.

The council said: "Conwy Quay will be closed to vehicles during the school summer holidays, to keep pedestrians safe during this busy time.

"Some car parking spaces on Castle Street will also be unavailable, to help pedestrians and people queuing at shops.

"We are expecting significant numbers of visitors to Conwy town this summer, and this will help to keep residents and visitors safe."
