MANY of us will be out and about enjoying Wales' beaches and other attractions this weekend - and you might even spot a familiar face or two.

Several celebrities have been making the most of what Wales has to offer by taking holidays here.

This week, Carol Vorderman has been sharing photos from Pembrokeshire when she has been enjoying a watersports adventure.

Posting selfies in swimsuits and wetsuits, the 60-year-old has been entertaining her 117,000 followers with posts about paddleboarding, kayaking and kayak fishing.

And comedian and actor Russell Brand is thought to be heading to the area after posing for selfies in Powys.

The 46-year-old comedian, actor, radio DJ, writer and activist happily posed for a photo and stopped to chat with locals while shopping for essentials in Rhayader as he passed through on his way to North Wales for a family holiday.

He even reportedly trusted one local with his dog, believed to be a German Shepherd called Bear, while he went into a local shop for supplies.

Russell and Carol, aren't the only celebrities to choose Wales as a holiday destination.

Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash, David Hasslehoff, and Hugh Grant have all been seen enjoying north and mid Wales.

And in 2004, Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart were seen shopping in the Co op in Llangollen when they enjoyed a canal holiday.

In Wrexham, Australian actress Rebel Wilson was recently in town to film scenes for a new films - and fans are eagerly awaiting the day they can welcome new owners of the football club Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney for a visit.

North Wales is a popular location for televisions shows, with Antiques Road Trip and similar programmes regular looking for hidden treasures in towns like Llangollen and Ruthin.

Former footballer Michael Owen lives in Flintshire and singer Charlotte Church recently bought a 15th century seven-bed Radnorshire mansion previously owned by Mid Wales fashion icon Laura Ashley.

And some celebs are just passing through.

Last week, comedian and new Doctor Who companion John Bishop was helped out by Dyfed Powys Police when he was involved in a minor accident.

On Instagram, he wrote: “I was driving to catch a ferry to Ireland when something happened!!

“To avoid a car that was swerving to avoid a ‘big chicken’ as I overtook I ended up like this.

“I missed my ferry but went on as a foot passenger on a later one thank to James and Tony from @dyfedpowyspolice .

“Amazing how helpful people can be when you need them and thanks to the other drivers for staying including Andrew who I think sadly hit the ‘big chicken’ anyway.”
