FOUR juvenile grey seals have been released back into the wild after a period of recovery.
This happened last Friday (August 20).
The Welsh Mountain Zoo released two males and two females near Angel Bay and the Little Orme where there is already a strong breeding colony.
A spokesperson for the Colwyn Bay attraction said: "After a few tentative looks, all four gladly took to the open water.
"After being firstly collected and cared for by the RSPCA, we complete their rehabilitation and bring them up to release weight, at our specially built rehabilitation unit.
"Most of the seal pups collected by the RSPCA are swept up in rough seas with pups often separated from their mothers.
"When collected by the RSPCA, they have often been abandoned or are ill/injured. At the Welsh Mountain Zoo, we receive seals from the RSPCA, and look after them until they are fit, healthy, and old enough to be released.
"This conservation work is extremely important, as seals are part of the marine ecosystem around the British Isles."
