LLANDUDNO FC has confirmed an offshore painting firm as its new major sponsor on a three-year deal.

OPS Wind, which has set up a new office on Madoc Street, has agreed the biggest commercial deal in the Seasiders' 33-year history.

It has eclipsed the the club's previous major sponsorship with MBi, which was valued at £20,000 a year.

Llandudno FC's chief operating officer Sam Williams, who has been involved in negotiating the deal over the past few months, said: “OPS Wind getting on board with Llandudno Football Club is a hugely exciting opportunity for the club, and is another step in the right direction towards the trajectory the club is taking.

"We’ve been working hard over the years with the community arm to help provide opportunities to the people of Llandudno, and OPS Wind shares that vision and principle, which made negotiations with them an enjoyable process.

"This is a project they want to support, and with their investment guaranteed over the next three years it will help Llandudno to propel towards the top tier of Welsh football once again.”

Che Murphy, operations manager for OPS Wind, which is based in Liverpool, said the company will provide the club's youth players with free educational workshops on the renewable sector.

He said: “The sponsorship with Llandudno Football Club is exciting for the club, the town, and OPS-Wind, we have set up our office in the town centre on Madoc Street, and we want people to know we are here, why we are here, and what our company vision is.

"OPS Wind’s vision is similar to Llandudno FC therefore we felt it was a perfect match, we both support the development of personnel, offering opportunities to local people and want to support local content.

"OPS Wind will be offering workshops on the renewable sector to the Academy teams who are in their final years of education, including the under-19s, under-23s and the first team.

"I feel this will give a different outlook to their potential career paths and maybe they will move into the sector or at least have an idea what it is like in the day and life of a wind turbine technician.”
