A WOMAN originally from Colwyn Bay walked the entirety of Glyndŵr's Way to raise money for a charity providing palliative care to adults across North Wales.

Michelle Gollins complete the walk across two stages in as many weeks, and has so far raised almost £2,000 for Llandudno-based St David’s Hospice.

Glyndŵr's Way is a lesser-known National Trail starting in Knighton, crossing mid-Wales to Machynlleth, and going back across to Welshpool. It is 135 miles of open moorland, farmland and forests through mid-Wales.

Michelle said: “I have walked long distances before, having walked the Wales Coast Path & Offa's Dyke Path, so walking Glyndŵr's Way seemed the obvious thing to do.

“I had originally signed up to walk sections of the Great Wall of China with St. David's Hospice in May 2020, but due to COVID-19 we haven't achieved this, so I decided to walk Glyndŵr's Way instead to raise funds for the hospice.

“My mum's close friend sadly passed away at St. David's Hospice after having excellent care there, so every penny raised is so worthwhile.”

Michelle, who still has family living in Colwyn Bay, completed the first stage in June, which consisted of a 75-mile walk from Knighton to Machynlleth.

She then took on the second and final stage, a 60-mile trek from Machynlleth to Welshpool, in August.

Glyndŵr’s Way is a hard, tough trail that is extremely hilly, often dropping into valleys and ascending hills several times in a day, and crossing country areas that are sometimes rough and remote.
