THIS week (September 13-17) is #WYPWeek, where young people will have the opportunity to participate in many activities relating to the next Welsh Youth Parliament election campaign.

This includes making an application to stand in the next election, registering to vote and sharing the issue most important to them.

The Welsh Youth Parliament is a platform that gives people in Wales aged 11-18 the opportunity to have their say on the things that matter to them and work directly with the Senedd to have these issues heard.

Gareth Davies MS, member of the Welsh Parliament for Vale of Clwyd, said: “Nominations are now open to have the opportunity to represent our constituency for the Welsh Youth Parliament.

“If you are aged 11-18 and you have a keen interest in politics and in shaping youth representation across Wales, this would be a perfect opportunity for you.

“It gives young people the platform to have their issues heard, and improve on skills such as public speaking and working with others.

“Even if you have no interest in standing yourself, I would still encourage young people to get involved by registering to vote, meaning you have a say in who the person will be that speaks for you and works with myself and the Senedd to voices issues that matter to younger residents of the Vale of Clwyd.”

If you know of any youth groups or young people you think would be interested in getting involved, please share information with them on how they can make an application: youthparliament.senedd.wales/get-involved/become-a-welsh-youth-parliament-member.

The Welsh Youth Parliament election will be taking place online from November 1-22.

The deadline for young people to make an application to become a Member of the next Welsh Youth Parliament is Monday, September 20 and the closing date to register to vote in the election is Friday, November 12.
