A CRASH on rural road near Colwyn Bay saw three casualties taken to hospital.

The incident, involving two vehicles, took place on Llanrwst Road at about 3.10pm on Sunday, September 19.

Crews from Llanrwst and Llandudno attended the scene.

A spokesperson for North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said one person was trapped.

"The fire service made both vehicles safe and used cutting gear on one vehicle," the spokesperson added.

Sergeant Jason Diamond said: “A blue Mazda 6 and a black Peugeot 208 were involved in a collision.

"An elderly lady was taken to Stoke hospital by air ambulance and three other casualties were involved, some requiring treatment.

“We are appealing to anybody who was in the area or may have witnessed the collision that occurred at approximately 3.10pm to contact us. The collision occurred near the entrance to the Maenan Abbey Hotel.”
