A 19-year-old admitted wounding with intent after attacking another young man with a cut-throat razor at a seaside nightspot.

Alex Jones, of Llwyn Estyn, Deganwy, was accused of attacking Jake Pickstock at the One47 club in Upper Mostyn Street, Llandudno, on August 21. He also pleaded guilty to possessing an offensive weapon.

Full details of the victim’s ordeal weren’t outlined during a hearing at Caernarfon crown court. Jones appeared on a video link from Berwyn jail Wrexham.

Judge Rhys Rowlands said he needed a risk assessment of Jones and a medical report detailing the number of stitches required for the victim.

“I suspect he will be permanently disfigured. It’s an appalling thing for a young man to have to face up to,” said the judge.

Judge Rowlands added that there was “graphic” body-worn camera footage. It was a “very serious” offence by Jones in the nightclub, using the razor, not long after he had been released from custody for other violence.

Prosecuting counsel Elen Owen said there was also footage of the assault.

Sentencing is due to take place next month.

Jones was represented by barrister Owen Edwards.
